How can i dye some of my hair pink if my hair is black?

I have colored my hair black several times (natural hair color is brown). now i want to either paint the bottom of my hair pink or put pink tips. I have pink hair dye but im not sure how to put it on because it wont show pink cuz my hairs to dark. So im guessing i have to bleach the part i want pink. but how do you bleach hair? please help im confused!

I do not recommend doing this at home. if you've already got some color on your hair, it's already got a dose or 2 of ammonia on it. if you dowse it again, you may end up green or a shade you are gonna be sick about.

Bleach peices of your hair then blowdry. When dry take pieces that have been bleached, put the dye on and wrap in tin foil so it doesnt touch your darker strands.

You're going to have to do some serious bleaching on the parts that you want to turn pink. You can buy bleach specifically for hair in the hair care sections of a lot of stores, I think, and then you just follow the directions.

It really depends on your hair type and such, but I can tell you from experience that every time I have temporarily dyed my hair it never goes back to exactly the way it was before. Just be aware of that before you dye it. It will wash out so you don't have to worry about it being blue forever but your natural hair won't be the same. You'd have to wait for it to grow out. Peroxide is something you can't meddle with because it's very strong. You could speed up the growing-out process by getting it cut short, then dye it once it's grown out.

I am looking for some hair dye in crazy colors that will last about 2 1/2 weeks.

Sallys has some good hair coloring products. Try the "in the zone" hair color its semi Permanent and it comes in a bunch of crazy colors. I had the underneath of my hair color bleached white and then dyed hot pink because my hair is brown. Also kool-aid works good and stays in for a while.

I use Preference on myself and the color really saturates and LASTS for weeks on end. I use Feria on my mom (her hair is starting to grey). Look for a type of Feria in a shiny silver box that is made to give "prismatic highlights" (this will help balance the gery and give a more natural look, not a look that just makes you look like you have grey hair and tried to fix it yourself)...also, make sure that the color you chose says "100% grey coverage" - it's usually in a yellow square on the front of the box. I use Feria #60 for Mom and it's great!

First of all, NEVER use a hair dye that you buy in a grocery store or Walmart anything like that. Go to a beauty supply store... Wella is one of the most recommended brands...and they are safer for your hair (no ammonia) and they last longer as they are the same products that professionals use.... most good beauty supply stores employ people that have had experience working with hair...so you can ask alot of questions and get good answers. I use to use box dyes and then i found Sally's (W. Washington), I started to buy my dyes there and my hair is healthier than when i used box dyes and my color stays in up to 4X longer...that is saving a lot of money believe me!

I think it will look wonderfull. Your eyes will show out more. And you will have better body to your hair. I have brown eyes and I use to go with the lighter shade. But, the last few years i have been going with the darker shade. And i get so many nice comments about my hair and eyes. And the body of my hair is so much better.

You should try a baby blonde colour as your blonde hair suits you. Also if you ever wanted to go back blonde from this auburn colour you would have to consider bleach.

Revlon (Colorsilk) is actually really good and it's one of the cheapest ones. The conditioner that it comes with is amazing and there's enough to use for several washings. It's always made my hair extra soft and smooth after using it. L'Oreal is pretty good if you're looking to do color plus highlights, but the cost is quite a bit higher. That one also comes with a conditioner that works pretty well. After you color your hair, buy a special shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. It will keep your hair color looking better longer and probably will keep it from getting quite as dried out.

I do it with dry hair, but I have friends who ONLY use it if their hair is damp. If your hair is damp, it will go on a bit brighter, but if you've bleached your hair like you're supposed to, it doesn't really matter. Towel dry implies that it should be damp, though.

You do not need to bleach your hair if your hair is natural black.... if you bleach it and put the red over then it will fade after a week or two of washing to a yucky orange colour. (red colour tends to fade heaps).

My hair is naturally a light brown colour and I dyed it jet black and then decided to put red streaks throught it. My hair dresses wouldnt bleach it so she put the red straight over the black and let it sit for about 40 minutes to an hour before she rinsed it off.

The first time i got it done it wasnt bright bright red, but the second time i went back to get it done (after like a month) it turned out great.

When you buy color from stores, you have to understand. Your results are not going to be the same as on the box because, it depends on the color your hair is to start off with. First, look on box to determine how many level it say the color will lift. This means, what ever level it lifts is going to be how many levels it will lift your hair.

I think your hair looks really pretty black, but if you want to dye it, then wait a while and wash it a lot so it can fade some. that may make it easier to make it lighter without having to go to professionals

i have long curly hair and used to straighen it all the time cuz i thought it looked better but one day i wore it curly and everyone was like wow, now i think curly haired people should never straighted their hair it jsut looks more natural that way, and looking at ur pics, i like how it looks curly, you dont need to spend all that time/$ straightening. for dye, maybe orange/red, you could even go platinum blonde if you want

If I use a dark brown henna on my naturally light brown hair now.....is there a recommended period of time before I go out and buy a 'regular' hair dye from the drug store and use that. dont do the henna!!! if you plan on putting normal color. you have to wait untill the henna is completly grown out of your hair. The reason being is the reacton with the mettalic salts found in the henna. When you do any sort of normal color, bleach box color, proffesional color, the hair will melt. and break off. so I would wait!

alright I am going though something similar to you. i love to dye my hair and i do dye my hair alot i mean alot. I want to use the henna b/c it is all natural if u buy the correct one. However it has been said from many sources my mom being one of them that you can not color or bleach until the hair has grown out all of the henna. So this is what I am going I bought all natural black henna from an Indian pack mart and I bough bleach from the drug store. I am going a strand test to see how they turn out I am gonna henna and then wait a week and bleach. That is what I sugest u to do also. It is safe and easy to use.

If you buy 100% pure henna things will be fine.

YOu can always do the test on old hair from your hairbrush.

Henna will only leave red color in your hair.

There is no such thing as black henna, blonde henna or any other color of henna.

The henna bush only has reddish brown dye in it, so if it is pure henna, that is the only color you will be able to see on your hair.

Hair color problems arise when people use impure henna.

If it has been adulterated with metallic salts and is not pure, that is when you might get greenish or strange colors.

it's easier to dye it a shade darker from your existing color. if you decide to go lighter, go a shade more lighter than the one you choose since the effect you want won't really show. another thing, if you just dyed your hair recently, let your "head" rest from the chemicals stuff, wait like 2 weeks or so and use lots of conditioner so it won't really ruin your hair.

Okay.. if you are going from a lighter to darker.. yes it is fine.. But if you are going darker to lighter you have to go thru a little proccess. lol. I have been dying my hair black for 2 years.. I found this stuff that strips hair color out. It isn't bleach so it won't ruin your hair. It is peroxide. That depends. Do you want to dye it the second time with permanent dye or another non permanent dye? Hair dye in any form requires a certain amount of harsh chemicals. My suggestion to you is to wait a few weeks and then re-dye your hair, otherwise the newer dye mixed with your first dye will dry out your hair and cause your hair to become brittle and frizz out for you.

It sounds like your nan is on your side, why don't you ask your nan to take you ? If you paid for it yourself then your mum can't do anything about it. And maybe when you get it done, your mum will like it and let you keep doing it.

Maybe your mother is keeping you in mind. When you dye hair after time people seem to enjoy it and they keep changing the color. In time what you do is die your hair, killing the nutrients and oils, and all the good natural stuff. Maybe she's looking after you. And personally, I find highlights to be 4x better looking on females than the actual full dye. Your eyebrows would then have to be dyed, and it's not a natural color. Listen to mum, she always knows best.

dying you hair really dries it out, (believe me), any way an all over dye is out of fashion now,

if mums letting you get highlights that's great, these aren't too harsh as its only on sections of your hair and to be honest look 1000 times better than an all over dye, as it isn't as noticable when it grows out, there's nothing worse than the root growth showing through, highlights make this less noticable,

perhaps you could persuade her to allow you to get two colours done, a highlight and a low light,

i have had 3 colours put through my hair and i love it, i have a blond for the highlights and a mid tone and a chocolate brown tone to give the lowlight,

just make sure you use a good conditioner for highlighted-dyed hair to keep it in good condition.

highlights are more natural and grow out better then a permanent all over colour that yu wuld have to re-do every 4-6 weeks as you will get regrowth and you will not like the roots showing. with highlights you dont have the same commitment and they look better because yiu can change the colour whenever yiy have them dne where yiu can go blonder r darker depending on what look you want that season. highlights are a better option anyway so if your mum says yes to that i would jump at the chance as yu will get a more multi tonal look anyway! so dont be upset be happy she wants yu to get highlights! yur friends will be so jealous and also make sure you get a full head so you will definatly get an all over lighter look.

These types of chemical injuries are best treated with irrigation, then some more irrigation. As some of the dyes are acidic or basic, the washing helps neutralize the chemical. The conjunctiva will get red from the injury. The chemicals cause the blood vessels to dilate to get more blood to the area to get rid of the toxins. Since the blood vessels are engourged, the eye looks red. The extra blood and dilated vessels will also leak so the area will also get swollen, and the stretching causes the pain.

The 'best' way to decreased the inflammation is to use a mild steroid, but you'd have to see an ophthalmologist to get that Rx. This will heal by itself over the next week or so. If it remains irritated and you can't get to a doctor, you might try something that keeps it moist. I've used vaseline in a pinch, and it's worked for this. Makes everything yellow looking and gooey, but it does help some. And the irritation, if made worse...just wash out the vaseline.

You only live once so go for it and if it looks to bad in another month die it back to regular color something else you like. Just don't let the roots grow to long or they will look bad. Pink is just like any other color you die your hair you just have to take care of it.

You have to bleach it first, so your hair will be fairly unhealthy. I would go for some highlights/streaks of pink. My mom accually did this last summer. She's in her 40s. I didnt mind, my family just laughed.

uhm...in my opinion...not the best idea...depending on how old your kids are, if they're young they will get it in their minds that its ok to do something like that when they're older (monkey-see, monkey-do), and if they're older they might think "woah...mom's just trying to be 'hip'" and might resent your hair...i would really decide whether or not it's what YOU want to do, and then put yourself in your family's shoes because it sounds like if you're a stay at home mom you really care about your family so i would try to do what's best for your family AND you.

well -- i'm going to be the voice of reason. yes, it is your hair, and yes, in an ideal world you should be able to do with it what you like. however, the world isn't nice or fair and people will judge your parenting skills by the way you present yourself. period. think about how many times you've "judged a book by it's cover," like thought someone was a complete bore based on the kind of jeans they wore or something.

how about a compromise? how about just dying a chunk of hair instead of your whole head? that way, it will give you a little bit of edge, but perhaps be less of a criteria for judgement by others.

i know a mom of a 13 year old who has two blue chunks of hair on both sides of her head. it looks funky and cool, and edgy. if her whole head was blue, she might look like smurf -- and i think her daughter would freak!

believe me if somebody is going to judge your parenting skills by the color of your hair, then they are just flat out dumb. i think you should do it. if you don't want to do too much just do one chunk down the sides. and do it underneath the mohawk section so when your roots start to grow out, they won't be visible. I'm a hairstylist and that's how i do my hair. I've got a purple, blonde, and brown chunk on both of my sides, all underneath my mohawk section (which is dyed a blue black) and you can't ever see my roots. go for it!!!!

Pick which one you want to do the most and do that one first, then wait for a week or two and do the other. waiting a week or two will give you hair a chance to get over the shock of the chemicals they use for dyeing and relaxing. And who knows you might either dye or relax your hair and find that you might not need the other.

keep in mind that color does not remove color, you may want to use pervana to remove the low lights first. To keep your hair from going orange, get a green based dye, the clerk at sally's will know what this means and be able to help you.

I would also recommend that you take a small section of hair in an inconspicuous area and apply the color, let it process, rinse out the color and dry the section to see if you like the outcome before you apply to your whole head, to be sure you like the color and it's out come on your hair.

You can't "dye" your hair lighter. You have to bleach your hair in order to lighten it to the desired pigment. You should go to a salon or you could do it at home with a flash 30 or flash 40 kit. Nothing can go wrong if you follow the directions on the box.

Try Special Effects or Manic Panic flash volume bleach.

You can always bleach it lighter than you want and simply use a "dirty blonde" shade (dye) to darken it.

Black is darker than burgundy, so you wont see the burgundy unless you stand in the sun, then there might be a red glow. You will need to bleach the black out before you can go burgundy , but I wouldn't recommend this, it will ruin your hair.

You see hair in certain colours because light (from the sun, from the light bulb, etc) hits the hair, and then goes on to hit your ye. (Most) hair die only works by taking certain colours *out* of the light that gets reflected. They make your hair darker, not lighter.

I'll say that again. You CANNOT die your hair lighter. It just doesn't work. Its like asking what kind of lead you should put in your shoes to make you float.

What you can do is bleach your hair lighter. Depending on your hair colour this leaves your hair either white-ish, or a light gingerish colour. (There's ginger colour in a lot of brown hair, and the bleach doesn't wash it out as well as it washes out the est of the colour.) Then you can dye it whichever colour you like.

Bleaching does damage hair though. So be carefull. You'll need to get advice from someone who knows more about it than me. Preferably someone you know who can do it with you.

Dye, or haircolor won't make your hair fall out, but it will sure make it dry and easy to break. The reason your hair took color only on the outgrowth is that when you color your hair burgundy, you are adding color. You already have the darkest possible color, black. You can't add more pigment. it's like trying to color a black paper yellow. It won't work. So you have to lighten your hair at least to something a little lighter than the burgundy. Then add burgundy color. Mind you, these processes will have a very drying effect on your hair, so you will need to condition thoroughly and regularly. It may even be that you will need to use a color filler between the lightening process and the burgundy color in order to make the color come out evenly. So, here's the process: color hair with a blonding haircolor (to lift out the black color), condition and fill. Apply burgundy color. Condition. Condition. Remember, the more colors you reapply over existing ones, the less predictable the results will become.

1 - Medium to deep warm skin tones :

Note : Check your brown shade ( I know that it's dark brown and everything but there are different tones , some are closer to black , some aren't ) , so if you want to go back to your natural hair color you know just what shade you are looking for .
